Second International Conference on Transgenerational Trauma, Amman, Jordan
Prior to working with Syrian refugees at the Zaatri refugee camp in Jordan, Myron will be teaching at the 2nd International Conference on Transgenerational Trauma.
Myron will be in the refugee camps with Patch Adams and 30 other physicians, nurses, and psychologists to work with traumatized children and families living at Zaatari refugee camp over a two week period. To inform you about Patch and his work, and below is a link to a video produced about one of his missions to Afghanistan titled: “Clown In Kabul” (this may be a difficult movie for some to watch in the general public). You can also look up the Hollywood movie (starring Robin Williams) that is about his life, named “Patch Adams,” that can be viewed by anyone and gives an inspiring account of him and his purpose. Here is the full video “Clown In Kabul“.
For information on his presentations and the presentations of others at that conference, see: www.ttconfjo.com
Two major fundraising campaigns to support the Social Health Care Project serving Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. Your help is needed.
The main campaign currently is soliciting donations for the treatment and training service for refugee children in the camps. The refugee camps are made up largely of women and children. Conditions in the camps are extremely dangerous due to gangs, theft, and rape. Children are particularly vulnerable due to the displacement and trauma to which they have been exposed. Services for trauma treatment is for all practical purposes non-existent.This campaign will have drawings done by refugee children that will go to larger donors in the campaign. All donations go into direct cost of services and medical supplies Please circulate this fundraising campaign with anyone you think may be interested or post in your websites/Facebook pages. See the campaign: Healing the Trauma of Syrian Refugee Children in Jordan.
The other campaign, which is being generated by young people in Jordan, called “Dance for Refugees” is a campaign seeking to have dancers from all over the world make videos of dances for peace and healing for the refugees.
These videos will be compiled in a larger video that will be shown in the camps as well as being used to educate the world of the needs of the refugees. See http://youtube.com/embed/r2nJ6cQOVUQ. Videos can not be longer than three minutes. The process is:
- upload the clip to YouTube
- Send the URL to the team in Jordan to review at: email@example.com
- They’ll send a reply from the team in Jordan who are handling this campaign re. how to track their video on our youtube channel and social media pages.
